Letter: Woman’s Club of Medford thanks volunteers for Freedom Park clean up

The Woman’s Club of Medford has been making the community a better place for over 100 years now. During that time, we have partnered with our community in many ways but I must say that this past Sunday was something special.

Through the efforts of many of our own members as well as members of the Medford MOMs Club, Mayor Buoni, a gentleman named Bob and nearly 40 kids from the St. Mary of the Lakes Youth Group, the Shawnee High School National Honor Society and Boy Scout Troop 26 we managed to clean up the playground area and all three memorials at Freedom Park in Medford.

I also must give an extra special acknowledgement to a young man named Joe who was riding his bike through the park, saw that we had tools and wheelbarrows ready to work and took it upon himself to volunteer to help ‘just because’ — and he stayed until the end for four hours! This young man was an inspiration to us all and his parents should be very proud! So, thank you Joe and all those who came out last Sunday, you’ve brought beauty to Medford’s parks and we all appreciate it!

President, Woman’s Club of Medford
