Armed robbery, theft top Mt. Laurel Police report

The following information was provided by the Mt. Laurel Police Department.

Mt. Laurel Police are investigating an armed robbery of the Verizon store on Dearborn Circle that occurred at 10:10 a.m. on Aug. 23. Two suspects entered the store carrying umbrellas to shield themselves from surveillance video and wearing black masks. While displaying handguns, they forced all employees and customers into the rear office area. The employees were forced into the stock room where they were ordered to fill bags with cellular phones. The phones were valued at approximately $70,000. The first suspect was described as a male, approximately five-feet 10-inches tall, 170 pounds, with facial hair. The second suspect was described as a male, approximately six-feet three-inches tall, 250 pounds, also with facial hair. The suspects fled the store via the rear door toward Route 38. Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 41-year-old man of the 87 block of 126th Street, Richmond Hill, N.Y., on Aug. 26 for hindering his own prosecution. Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop on Masonville Road at 11:56 a.m., he provided false information to police in an attempt to avoid a traffic summons. Singh was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Two residents of the unit block of Spinnaker Drive reported computer criminal activity. The investigation revealed that counterfeit debit cards were used to make over $3,000 in withdrawals from each victim’s bank account. The transactions occurred in Nebraska and Pennsylvania between Aug. 7 and Aug. 26.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 67-year-old man of the unit block of Farnwood Road, and a 66-year-old woman also of the unit block of Farnwood Road, on Aug. 26 for shoplifting. They were observed attempting to leave the ShopRite on Union Mill Road without paying for merchandise valued at $135.54. Both were served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 23-year-old woman of the 6300 block of Preston Way, on Aug. 27, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. She was arrested during court security screening as she attempted to enter the Mt. Laurel Municipal Court for an unrelated matter. She was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A resident of the 500 block of Cambridge Drive reported a burglary and theft to a residence. The incident occurred on Aug. 27, between 1 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Entry was gained by forcing the side door. An undetermined amount of jewelry and cash was taken.

Mt. Laurel Police arrested a 46-year-old man of the unit block of East Kings Highway, Maple Shade, on Aug. 28 for shoplifting $235.95 in merchandise from the ShopRite on Nixon Drive. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

A guest of Coco Keys on Route 73 reported the theft of an iPhone 5C, valued at $500. The phone was taken while the victim was in the arcade area at approximately 3 p.m. Aug. 28.

A resident of the unit block of Woodview Drive reported a burglary and theft to a residence. The incident occurred on Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. The resident observed a man, six-feet tall, approximately 18-years-old, enter his open garage and take a bicycle valued at $200. The resident later recovered the bicycle on Hope Court.
