Virtua Voorhees will host a Farm to Fork event on Thursday August 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for employees and visitors and will feature a cafeteria menu that uses local and seasonal farm fresh foods. Virtua promotes health and wellness among its employees and in the community; this is another way to help them eat healthy.
Local Duffield’s Farm of Sewell, NJ will hold a small farmers market at the hospital where fresh produce and products such as homemade baked goods can be purchased. Recipes and other giveaways will also be available.
The event will take place at the Virtua on 100 Bowman Drive.
This Farm to Fork culinary event is the result of a project that dietetic intern Danielle Sanislow is conducting. In the food rotation phase of an internship, Sanislow has been tasked with a project that requires her to devise, prep, cost and analyze one meal in the cafeteria based on a common theme. Sanislow has chosen the Farm to Fork theme, much to the delight of the hospital staff and visitors who will benefit from fresh seasonal items.
