Camden County Library offer Homework Help for students

With the start of another school year, it’s useful to know how much reliable information students and parents can find to do homework from a home Internet connection through services offered by the Camden County Library System.

This year, the library is again providing library cardholders free access on its website to the services of www.tutor.com. Students and adult learners can get one-on-one online tutoring to help with their homework questions at www.camdencountylibrary.org/tutor.

Also Kid’s Zone is a special section on the library’s website that includes homework help in a variety of forms for younger students. Go to the library’s home page at www.camdencountylibrary.org/ and click on ‘Using the Library’ at the top where visitors will find the Kids Zone menu that includes a link to the Homework Help page.

The Homework Page has a variety of websites that are great sources of information for students and parents. The page also offers a link to Ask a Librarian service by email, telephone or onsite at one of the library’s eight branches.

Searchasaurus is one of the resources available on the homework help page that enables students and their parents to search thousands of articles. It has an online general encyclopedia and an animal encyclopedia that offers a lot of information about animals from around the world.

According to EBSCOhost, the online publisher of Searchasaurus, it is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages young researchers to develop their basic search skills. The Homework Help page also offers Primary Search, a database geared to finding age-appropriate magazine articles for children.

Some of the sources on Kids Zone like Searchasaurus require a barcode number found on the back of any valid library card, but many of the online sources do not require a card and are accessible from any Internet connection at www.camdencountylibrary.org/homework-help.

The Teen Space is a special section on the library’s website that offers, among other features, homework help from a variety of resources that are organized by different subjects, including nearly every high school subject from poetry to geography to math.

The Teen Space can be reached from the Camden County Library homepage at www.camdencountylibrary.org Again, visitors should go to ‘Using the Library’ where they’ll see a link to the Teen Space that offers a Homework Help section which in turn provides websites on a variety of high school subjects. Resources marked as “Subscription Database” require a library card while others are accessible to anyone on the Internet.

Another useful tool on the site are Subject Guides or PathFinder links that clue visitors into all the resources about a given subject that are available at the library through books, articles and even related websites on the Web.

Teen students can also use the Ask-a-Librarian service by email, telephone, online or onsite at one of our eight branches. Ask-a-Librarian can be reached from the library home page at www.camdencountylibrary.org under ‘Using the Library’ and the Reference Center.
