Burlington County Freeholder Deputy Director Joe Howarth is seeking the community’s assistance in collecting new backpacks for a Back-To-School Drive now through Friday, Aug. 22. Collection boxes will be set up throughout county buildings and at the Burlington County Library Headquarters in Westampton.
“Working in a school district, I know firsthand the importance of having children prepared to learn with all the necessary tools. I also understand that there are some families that may need assistance when it comes to the cost of essential school supplies,” Howarth said. “We want to give our students every opportunity to thrive in school. By providing backpacks and school supplies, we are hoping to make things easier for Burlington County families.”
Burlington County is partnering with Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington Township to collect much needed backpacks and school supplies. Gift cards to department stores will also be accepted.
“We are collecting backpacks that are suitable for all different age groups; from kindergarten through high school,” Howarth said. “County residents have always answered the call to help when we have had other efforts to assist those in need, and I am confident they will do so once again.”
The Tabernacle Baptist Church is holding a back-to-school carnival on August 23 at 12 pm to distribute backpacks and school supplies to those children who need them.
