Assembly Republican Christopher J. Brown, R-Burlington, Atlantic, Ocean, issued the following statement after voting “no” in the Budget Committee on the FY 2015 Budget proposed by Democrats:
“This budget taxes the solution instead of attacking the problem. New Jersey has a spending problem, and increasing revenue with higher taxes on our job creators and most productive taxpayers is not the solution.
“We need to reform our pension and retirement benefits without jeopardizing the promises we’ve made to our retirees so we can make New Jersey affordable for everyone.
“The Democrats won’t go after the spending, so they attack the job creators that millions of New Jersey families depend on for their paychecks. The tax increases I voted against today are temporary solutions to a budget hole that will do long-lasting damage to our state economy.”
