Assembly Republican Christopher J. Brown, a member of the Assembly Budget Committee, issued the following statement after David J. Rosen from the Office of Legislative Services delivered testimony about the proposed FY 2015 budget:
“Any discussion about the state’s budget needs to concentrate on taxes and spending. However, some in Trenton remain fixated on revenue, with no consideration to the impact on our taxpayers.
“Long-suffering New Jerseyans, exhausted by one of the highest tax burdens in the nation, will continue to move away, just as they have been doing for more than a decade. That point was proven by a Boston College report from 2010 on the migration of wealth from New Jersey.
“The fact is, for many years high taxes in New Jersey have helped drive from our state both growing families and retirees on fixed incomes.”
