Moorestown Friends School teacher wins national singing award

Kelly Bixby, music teacher and choral music director at Moorestown Friends School, won the Eastern Region National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award on March 22 at Hofstra University.

Only one regional winner was chosen from each of the 14 NATS regions in the United States. Bixby competed against vocalists from Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey, and Quebec for her title.

Bixby is a soprano, and was assisted by pianist Laura Ward.

She will perform July 4 for the semi-final NATS Artist Awards at the National Association of Teachers of Singing 2014 Conference at the Marriott Copley Place, in Boston.

More information about the competition may be found at www.nats.org/competitions.html.
