Residents of Voorhees are encouraged to participate in a weekend of hoops and fun for all ages at the Katz JCC’s 9th Annual Eric and Andy Sussman Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. Funds raised throughout the weekend will be dedicated to various charities, in memory of late JCC members, brothers and basketball lovers Eric and Andy Sussman, both of whom loved playing ball at the JCC.
“We are excited to host this year’s tournament to honor the memory of Eric and Andy Sussman,” said Bill Christy, JCC program coordinator.
“We are especially thrilled to be welcome Coaches vs. Cancer to join in our efforts, who like us, strive to empower coaches, their teams, and communities to join the fight against cancer,” Christy said.
The weekend begins on Saturday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m., with an evening for high schoolers. The March 8 event will include a 3-on-3 tournament, a 3-point contest, and a party with a DJ, dancing and prizes.
Events will continue on Sunday morning, March 9, beginning at 10 a.m. Two 3-on-3 tournaments will take place. A master’s tournament for players ages 40 and over will be scheduled first, and another for players 18 and over will proceed.
At 1 p.m. on Sunday, there will be four 3-on-3 tournaments for children. Children will be placed in groups based on grade levels.
All are invited to attend Family Fun Day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and enjoy basketball contests, face painting, a moon bounce, food and much more.
All tournament participants receive a commemorative t-shirt and prizes. Proceeds from the weekend benefit the Katz JCC’s youth basketball program and the “Coaches vs. Cancer” organization for cancer research.
