James Francis McSparran, formerly a 25-year resident of Haddonfield, passed away on Feb. 2 at the age of 79. McSparran was the beloved husband for 55 years of Eileen (nee Eddleman), the loving father of Nancy Carpenter (Gary) of Haddonfield, and cherished grandfather of Emma Carpenter.
Mr. McSparran had been a member of the West Jersey Rose Society. He was an avid gardener and golfer. Additionally, he read extensively, and loved traveling and doing crossword puzzles.
Mr. McSparran’s family will receive friends on Feb. 7, 6 to 8 p.m., at Kain-Murphy Funeral Services, 15 West End Avenue, Haddonfield. All are invited to his memorial Mass on Saturday, Feb.8, at 10 a.m. The Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, Mr. McSparran’s family suggests donations be made in his name to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. The Trustees address is 353 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, Pa 19104, Attn: Natalie Reznik. In the memo section of donation letters, please write “Mesothelioma & Pleural Program Abramson Cancer Center.”
