Author Alan J. Heavens Discussion at Evesham Township Library
Join Alan J. Heavens for a discussion at the Evesham Township Library entitled “It’s All Local: The Regional Real Estate and Home Improvement Market in 2013.”
Heavens, 63, has been the Philadelphia Inquirer’s real estate and home improvement writer for 25 of the 34 years he has been with the newspaper.
He has degrees in history from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the University of Connecticut. He was a reporter and editor, as well as an announcer on several radio stations, in Connecticut and New York before coming to Philadelphia in 1980.
Heavens is the author of three books, two on home improvement and one on church history, and is an instructor at Temple University’s Real Estate Institute.
He was president and chairman of the board of the National Association of Real Estate Editors, has written for major magazines and newspapers around the country, and was “The Gadgeteer” on Discovery Channel’s Home Matters program for three seasons.
Heavens lives in Haddonfield with his wife, Ellen Gray, the television critic for the Philadelphia Daily News and his younger son, Patrick. His older son, Dr. Nicholas G. Heavens, is a
research professor in planetary science at Hampton University in Virginia.
