Republicans win re-election in Medford

Medford Township’s Council will remain the same in 2014 as Jeffrey Beenstock, James Pace and Chuck Watson were all re-elected on Tuesday.

The Burlington County Board of Election’s unofficial results had the three Republicans defeating their Democratic opponents, Becca Gutwirth, Brett Blyshak and George Youngkin. The win by Beenstock, Pace and Watson will keep the Council entirely Republican for at least another year.

The unofficial results from the Burlington County Board of Elections are as follows:

Jeffrey Beenstock (R) — 22.62 percent (4,543 votes)
Chuck Watson (R) — 21.57 percent (4,333 votes)
James Pace (R) — 21.21 percent (4,260 votes)

George Youngkin (D) — 12.06 percent (2,423 votes)
Becca Gutwirth (D) — 11.43 percent (2,296 votes)
Brett Blyshak (D) — 11.02 percent (2,214 votes)

In the Board of Education election for Medford Public Schools, incumbent vice president Trudy Cole fell short against newcomer David Bermingham. Bermingham earned 2,610 votes as of 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, while Cole earned just 2,008 votes.

Incumbent board president Michael Etter and Katherine Busca received 2,895 and 2,991 votes, respectively, to win re-election for their seats.

The Lenape Regional Board of Education had one seat up for re-election in Medford this year as well. William Bisignano ran unopposed for that seat.

These unofficial results do not include mail-in or provisional ballots.
