Detectives from the New Jersey State Police have made an arrest in the murder of Lisa Armstrong, 47, of Trenton.
A 37 year old man, of Trenton, has been arrested and charged with murder and felony murder kidnapping in the death of Armstrong.
On Oct. 8, detectives with the New Jersey State Police Major Crime Unit and the Troop C Criminal Investigation Office began an investigation into the death of Armstrong, whose body was found in the woods along Route 206 in Tabernacle. Armstrong’s body was discovered by a surveying crew shortly after 8 a.m. She was found a few yards into the trees at the side of the rural highway. Evidence indicates that Armstrong was shot and killed at the location where she was located, and the murder likely took place within 24 hours of her discovery.
Since the discovery, State Police detectives from the Major Crime Unit, Troop C Criminal Investigation Office and Crime Scene Investigation Unit, have been working around the clock examining evidence and following leads.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, the man was placed under arrest by State Police detectives. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges of murder and felony murder kidnapping. Burlington County Superior Court Judge Claypool set bail for him at $1,000,000. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail in default of bail. The motive remains under investigation as well as other aspects of the case.
