‘Put the Brakes on Fatalities’ Day is Oct. 10

Cherry Hill Township recognizes the Annual “Put the Brakes on Fatalities” Day on Oct. 10, a statewide initiative that challenges motorists to buckle-up, slow down and obey all traffic laws to keep New Jersey roads fatality-free.

“Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day” was established 12 years ago to focus attention on reducing traffic fatalities that occur each year throughout the United States.
In New Jersey, 589 individuals lost their lives on the state’s roadways in 2012.

As part of a continuing effort in “moving toward zero fatalities,” motorists, pedestrians, motorcyclists and bicyclists are asked to take extra care on Oct. 10 to prevent traffic crashes and make this a fatality-free day across New Jersey.

To reinforce this lifesaving message and further support the initiative, the Cherry Hill Police Department will be participating in this day-long event by deploying variable message boards displaying safety messages as well as participating in enforcement details to reach as many motorists as possible to challenge them to drive safely and reach our goal of zero fatalities.
