Obituary: Nancy Madara Secor
Nancy Madara Secor, age 56, of Dillon, Colorado and Moorestown, NJ, passed on to a higher place on Sept. 4.
She is remembered by her husband Stephen and children: Amy, Peter and Kelly; parents Constance and Samuel Madara; siblings Steven (Lin), Suzanne Coffee, and David (Lisa), many nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Moorestown High School, ’75, and was known for her athleticism, leadership and sportsmanship, receiving the Eisenberg Award for “Best Female Athlete” as a key field hockey player. She graduated from Susquehanna University ’79 after a career on the women’s field hockey team.
Summers were spent in Beach Haven, NJ, competitive sailing and as a youth sailing counselor at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club. In ensuing years, she shared her love for the water and sailing with her children.
She moved to Colorado in 1979, anticipating one winter ski season, fell in love with Steve, the Colorado mountains and never left. She worked for Keystone Resort ultimately becoming Director of the Race Department, captaining the Keystone sailboat summers on Lake Dillon.
Nancy started her own photography business from home focusing on photographing sporting activities and H.S. senior portraits. Friends, family and the community will always remember Nancy for her determination and selfless devotion to her family.
A memorial service took place at Beaver Run Resort, Breckenridge, CO, Sept. 12. A future Celebration of Life at First United Methodist Church, Moorestown, is planned.
