As the summer season is now upon us, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection reminds us of the many events and natural resources that are available in New Jersey’s 39 state parks, 11 forests, 35 historic sites and 121 wildlife management areas.
While some sustained damage from Superstorm Sandy, all of our state parks, forests, historic sites and wildlife management areas were reopened shortly after the storm.
Last year, state parks had 19 million visitors. Our parks offer opportunities to experience firsthand New Jersey’s natural and historic resources through our wildlife management and interpretive centers, hiking trails, lakes, rivers, forests, beaches and historic monuments and battlefields covering 800,000 acres.
The DEP has launched a new mobile phone applications and online camping reservation system to help visitors plan for and make the most out of their trips to our wonderful resources. Learn more through the following links:

** The next show in our Summer Twilight Series is Aug. 8 (rain date Aug. 9) with the first appearance of “Let’s Hang On:” A Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Enjoy the hits made famous by those boys from Jersey. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Connolly Park and is free.
** Voorhees Township is offering discounted tickets to Morey’s Piers in Wildwood. Tickets are available in the municipal clerk’s office at Voorhees Town Hall. ** The Farmer’s Market at the Voorhees Town Center is open from 8 a.m. until noon every Saturday rain or shine through Oct. 5. Vendors include Duffield’s, Fruitwood, Bellview Winery and more, supplying “Jersey Fresh” and locally grown produce, meats, cheeses, wines and more.
