On Sunday, March 3 at approximately 5:15 p.m., a woman who was seated on a bench outside the Path Mark supermarket on Church Road in Cherry Hill was approached by a 24-year-old man, of the 4800 block of Shetland Way in Westville, who engaged her in conversation before grabbing her purse and fleeing on foot. The incident was witnessed by Gerald Smith, of Merchantville, who was waiting for his family to exit the Path Mark.

This Good Samaritan exited his vehicle and pursued the suspect. Smith was able to apprehend the suspect after a foot chase and hold him until the Cherry Hill Police arrived and placed him under arrest. The suspect, who was wanted in other jurisdictions, was charged with theft and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail.
