Ingrid Clarfield makes rare Cherry Hill appearance

Her spirit is infectious. Her love of classical piano music is contagious. Ingrid Clarfield, the MTNA Teacher of the Year 2012, pianist, author and the subject of a documentary, made a rare appearance in Southern New Jersey at a South Jersey Music Teachers National Association (SJMTNA) presentation entitled The Road to Stylistic and Technical Mastery.

It took place in the Recital Hall at Jacobs Music Company in Cherry Hill on Feb. 26.

The event was an opportunity to applaud the pianist’s tenacious fight back to teaching after a debilitating stroke that resulted with her playing the piano with only her right hand. The story of Clarfield’s commitment to her health, her music and her students is the subject of the inspirational documentary entitled “Take A Bow,” which traces Clarfield’s recovery.
