Black History Month reading contest

Young readers in Mt. Laurel can participate in a Black History Month Reading Contest in February sponsored by Mt. Laurel Library and Southern Burlington County NAACP for a chance to win a Kindle Fire. Southern Burlington County NAACP and Mt. Laurel Library are pleased to announce this new literacy initiative that celebrates the rich heritage, contributions, and accomplishments of African Americans.

Children in kindergarten up to fourth grade are invited to participate in the first annual Black History Month Reading Contest. Simply read any book written by an African American or about Black history or culture. Each book read will count as an entry to win a grand prize raffle drawing. Read more books and increase your chances to win big.

One lucky reader will be randomly selected to win the grand prize, a Kindle Fire with an eBook. All participants will receive a reading certificate and a bookmark.

Children can track books using a reading log available in the Library or on its website at www.mtlaurel.lib.nj.us A valid Mt. Laurel Library card is required to participate. The contest runs from Friday, Feb. 1 to Thursday, Feb. 28. The grand prizewinner will be announced on Monday, March 4.
