Boy Scout Troop 47 to hold second annual Christmas tree collection

The Indian Mills Boy Scout Troop 47 will be designating Monday, Jan. 21, Martin Luther King National Day of Service for Christmas tree removal and recycling.

Tree recycling is an easy way to return a renewable and natural resource back to the environment.

In addition to providing a service to Shamong Township, Troop 47 will use funds raised to provide a high-quality Scouting program including such things as camping equipment, travel opportunities as well as local charitable event support.

Residents should leave the Christmas tree curbside by 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, or Monday, Jan. 21.

Please be sure that there is no tinsel, nails or flocking, as these cannot be recycled and will not be removed.

This service is free to all residents but a suggested donation of $15 would be greatly appreciated. Checks should be made payable to Troop 47 and placed in a Ziploc baggie rubber banded to the base of the tree (no cash please).

This program is sponsored by Boy Scouts of America and Troop 47. All trees will be used as compost at the Burlington County Compost Facility.

For further questions please contact Assistant Scoutmaster, Jeff Siedlecki at (609) 268–9411.

To schedule a pickup, you can send an email to [email protected] containing your address or call the Shamong Township building at (609) 268–2377.

Stay tuned with The Sun for a story to follow.
