Dr. Lawrence Levine, podiatrist and founder of Foot Health Centers, P.A., based in Cherry Hill, and a Cherry Hill resident, was recently named a Silver Level recipient in the Consultant of the Year category of the 2012 Health Care Innovation Awards from the Philadelphia Business Journal and United Healthcare.
The category honors an external consultant who had a major impact on the operations of a hospital or health center.
Dr. Levine was recognized for developing the first podiatry program in the country for five Federally Qualified Health Center locations throughout Southern New Jersey.
These facilities enable lower income individuals to receive top care, with approximately 10,000 visits made by Foot Health Centers’ doctors to undeserved or homebound patients annually. Dr. Levine’s program serves as a prototype model for any Federally Qualified Health Center in the United States.
Foot Health Centers, P.A. founded by Dr. Levine in 1972, now encompasses 13 doctors working out of 34 offices, nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout Southern and Central New Jersey and Philadelphia.
The practice’s size enables it to offer state-of-the-art systems to expedite patient diagnostic results and treatment at all of its health centers and suburban office locations.
Dr. Levine is also affiliated with John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospitals, Riverview Hospital, Capital Health System, Virtual Hospitals, Cooper University Hospital, among others.
“The dramatic increase in obesity, diabetes and peripheral arterial disease in underserved populations is epidemic and directly impacts foot health,” said Dr. Levine. “I find it immensely rewarding to be able to provide high quality support to these deserving patients who otherwise could not afford the care they need resulting from these diseases.”
The recipient of numerous national awards for research in podiatric medicine, Dr. Levine also has received repeated honors as a Top Doc in several publications in New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Dr. Levine, who received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, has been an associate professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine since 1984.
He is a fellow with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.
