Burlington County Clerk offers deeds to those lost in Hurricane Sandy

Burlington County Clerk Timothy D. Tyler recently said that his office is prepared to provide free certified copies of property deeds to Burlington County residents who were victims of Hurricane Sandy and winter Nor’easter Athena.

“I have contacted state and federal elected officials who represent Burlington County, to ensure the residents of the largest county in the state have several opportunities to acquire assistance,” said Tyler.

Those seeking copies need only provide their name, property address, contact information, and approximate date of purchase. The clerk’s office staff will provide certified copies, and all fees will be waived.

All property owners who are dealing with damage and other aftermath issues caused by the one-two punch of Sandy and Athena should reach out to the county clerk’s office at (609) 265–5122 or their federal and state representatives listed below, to request a certified copy of their deed. Residents should reach out between now and the end of the year, Dec. 31, to receive the documents.

U.S. Congressman LoBiondo (609) 625–5008

NJ State 8th legislative district Assemblymen Brown (609) 654–1498

NJ State 8th legislative district Rudder (609) 654–1498

“I fully recognize that important documents are often lost or become unaccounted for in disasters of this magnitude,” said Tyler. “My intent is to make locating these documents one less thing victims of Sandy and Athena need to worry about as they work to put their homes and lives back together.”
