SUPERINTENDENT: Schools to remain closed Nov. 8 and 9

Please be advised that Haddonfield School District will remain closed next Thursday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 9.

After much thought and deliberation with stakeholders, and given the short notice to parents, faculty, and community, we believe it is in the best interest of the students and community to adhere to the original school schedule for next week. Haddonfield is unique from other school districts in having three intense professional development days scheduled in the same week prior to the teachers’ convention in Atlantic City.

With that said, many families are away next week and staff have made prior commitments.

There are also other challenges if school were to open on these days. Student make up dates for the three days missed this past week due to Hurricane Sandy include: one day built into the calendar; Tuesday, Feb. 19 (changing this day from a professional development day to a regular student school day); and Monday, April 1.

Any subsequent emergency snow days, etc. will now be taken from the spring break.

Thank you again for all your cooperation and understanding.

Dr. Richard Perry

Superintendent of Schools
