Poster contest to be held

The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders are holding a poster contest for all county students ages 10 to 21. The contest is held during annual Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23 to 31 to educate, raise awareness and mobilize communities to combat tobacco, alcohol, and drug use.

“This poster contest is a great way for our young people to learn about the dangers of drugs and alcohol in a fun way,” said Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien.

Entries should address the theme “How Do You Stay Above The Influence.” All posters should be submitted on 8 and a half-inch by 11-inch construction paper, and an original creation that illustrates and raises awareness of the dangers of tobacco, drugs and alcohol. All posters will be on display Friday, Oct. 26 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Moorestown Mall in Macy’s Court.

Visitors to the exhibit will vote the top four winners. All four winners will receive a $25 American Express Gift Card.

Entries can be mailed or dropped off at the Burlington County Office of Health and Human Services, 2nd Floor located at 795 Woodlane Road located in Westampton, no later than Friday, Oct. 19.

The poster contest and exhibit are coordinated by the Burlington County Coalition for Healthy Communities, a program of Prevention Plus of Burlington County and the Burlington County Municipal Alliance Program. The Municipal Alliances are community-based volunteer organizations in 25 of the 40 municipalities in the county that coordinate local efforts to combat substance abuse.

The Burlington County Municipal Alliance Program is funded by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
