Cherokee and Lenape field hockey to Play 4 a Cure

October is the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month of the National Susan G. Komen Foundation. October is the height of field hockey season, and it is only appropriate that October is Play 4 the Cure month.

Cherokee Lady Chiefs and Lenape Lady Indians Field Hockey Teams have joined together in the effort to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation by taking part in the third annual “Play Pink” game.

Through t-shirt sales alone, the girls have raised $5,000. Raffles of donated items and refreshment sales at the game will also help increase the donation.

Cherokee and Lenape team members will honor breast cancer survivors and family members of those who were taken by this disease will be honored by in a pregame ceremony starting at 5:40 p.m.

On Oct. 9 both teams will be sporting Play Pink gear and a sea of supportive fans in the Cherokee Football Turf Stadium.

A pink Play 4 the Cure ball will replace the usual white hockey ball.

Cherokee High School is located at 130 Tomlinson Mill Road in Marlton.
