The Medford Arts Center is pleased to present poet, Nancy Scott at its upcoming Poetry Reading and Open Mic on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Ms. Scott is an artist and author of five books of poetry and managing editor of U.S.1 Worksheets, the journal of the U.S.1 Poets’ Cooperative in New Jersey. Her most recent book, On Location (March Street Press, 2011), is a collection of poems about works of art from around the world and dedicated to her Russian grandfather. Scott, a social worker assisting homeless families and abused children, began writing poetry as a way to capture the many stories she’d heard.
Her prize-winning poetry is widely published in online and print journals and her artwork is frequently exhibited in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Nancy’s website is www.nancyscott.net, and she can be reached at [email protected].
The MAC’s always entertaining Open Mic will begin following the reading. Share your work in a nurturing environment, or enjoy pieces by local poets. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be available. Donations are encouraged to support the arts.
