Haddon Fire Company №1 is pleased to announce the appointment of four new firefighters in Haddon Fire Company №1 . They were officially “sworn-in” by Director of Public Safety Commissioner Edward Borden at this evenings Borough Commissioners meeting.
All four firefighters are Haddonfield residents and all joined after expressing an interest in helping our fire department and our community.
The following is a summary of each new firefighter:
• Daniel Katz of Redman Avenue. Dan grew up in Haddonfield and went to HMHS. He played soccer in Haddonfield and attended McGill University in Montreal. He is currently an EMT and works part-time on Moorestown ambulance. He also works at Camden County College as a tutor. His parents are Harold and Margaret. Dan visited the station on Fire Prevention Night and decided to apply for part-time employment as an EMT and also to join HFC as a new firefighter.
• Karl Foote of Westmont Avenue. Karl graduated from Cherry Hill West High School and then graduated from University of Hartford with a Bio-Medical Engineer degree. He is currently working in his family business with his father at Foote Financial in Cherry Hill. Karl responded to a recent ad in the local paper for new firefighter membership and decided to apply.
• Dan O’Brien of Hawthorne Avenue. Dan graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft and attended Rowan University. He graduated with a BA Degree in Communications and obtained an MBA at Temple University. He works for IBM in Product Marketing. Dan recently stopped and helped extinguish a small porch fire in his neighborhood, which further peaked his interest in joining Haddon Fire Company №1.
• Sai Yerrapathruni of Kings Highway West. Sai attended Saint Ignatius High School in India and the National Institute of Technology in Calicut, India. He also received a Master of Science at Penn State University. He is a business manager for Entact Environmental Company, in Cherry Hill. Sai also responded to our ad for new firefighter members.
