Three years and tens of thousands of dollars, not a bad way to ring in the New Year for the “HMHS Lights, Camera, Action!” campaign.
Janice W. Hunt and past co-chair Deanna Burney presented a $70,000 check to the Haddonfield Board of Education last week at their regular meeting in the Haddonfield Memorial High School Library. This is the culmination of the “HMHS Lights, Camera, Action!” campaign; a private fundraising effort to update and replace the sound system, lighting and stage curtains at Haddonfield Memorial High School.
So far, this has been a three year effort of passion and the money presented at the meeting, along with some matching funds from the State of New Jersey will immediately enable the replacement of the sound system and curtains. The balance for the lights will be forthcoming soon.
Ultimately the program would like to raise a grand total of $150,000 to purchase stage curtains for the HMHS auditorium.
The fundraising program was approved by the board of education in 2009. It was formed by several parents of students in the Haddonfield School District and is chaired by Janice Hunt.
A sub-account was set up through Business Administrator Andy Hall for the Haddonfield Education Trust. Interested residents can donate funds for the project directly into the sub-account.
Tax deductible donations may be made to a special fund created under the Haddonfield Educational Trust by mail to HET, One Lincoln Ave, Haddonfield N.J. 08033. Please mark your checks “HMHS Lights, Camera, Action.”
