Have you ever walked into the Moorestown Township Public Library and thought to yourself, what the heck is that smell? Well, it’s being addressed, as the township will be taking steps to improve the library.
Township Manager Scott Carew said the public library’s HVAC system and fresh air intake would be thoroughly cleaned in the near future to rid the library of the smell that hits visitors when they walk in the door.
A library representative once described the smell coming from mildew in the facility.
Carew said the township will be looking for quotes in the near future for the cleaning work.
Also, several trees were removed from the outside of the library complex to hopefully reduce flooding and damage to the library roof, Township Manager Scott Carew said last week. The trees were funneling moisture, snow, and rain to the library roof, he said, which caused excessive leakage in the facility.
The trees were going to be scheduled to be removed when the new municipal complex project begins.

Carew said the township is currently drafting an ordinance to set forth the parameters for liquor licenses to be sold in Moorestown Township. The ordinance will describe the process of selling the licenses and how potentially buyers can register to purchase the documents.
Carew said the ordinance will hopefully be ready to be introduced by the township council in January.
