Joe Howarth, currently the deputy mayor of Evesham Township, won a seat on the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Burlington County Tuesday night. He and his fellow republican candidate Leah Arter defeated democratic candidates Mary Anne Reinhart and Machell Still-Pettis to capture the two seats.
All vote totals are considered unofficial by Burlington County representatives.
Arter led all candidates with 38,355 votes, with Howarth close behind 38,216. Reinhart garnered 34,506 votes and Still-Pettis received 32,579.
Howarth will be sworn into his position on the freeholder board in January of 2012. He would have to resign from the Evesham Township Council where he has sat for more than two years.
