Gilbert Gottfried in town Oct. 15

Gilbert Gottfried, whom Entertainment Weekly said “no one is funnier — or more disgusting,” headlines a pair of special shows at SARCASM Comedy Club in the Cherry Hill Crowne Plaza on Saturday, Oct. 15.

He also will be signing copies of his new book, “Rubber Balls and Liquor,” after each performance. “Rubber Balls and Liquor” is described as part memoir, part twisted social commentary, and part scratches on the bathroom wall. A frequent guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Howard Stern Show, Gottfried has become a favorite on televised comedy roasts for his controversial tirades. Opening for Gottfried will be the local winners of last weekend’s sold-out comedy competition, Mike Newman from the WPST Wakeup Crew, and Dave Primiano.

After spending several years during the 1970s mastering the art of stand-up comedy in New York city, Gottfried became known around town as “the comedian’s comedian.” It wasn’t until a few years later when his true notoriety would begin when MTV hired him for a series of improvised and hilarious promos for the newly-formed channel. This led to several television appearances on “The Cosby Show” and Late Night with David Letterman. Producers of the legendary NBC late night comedy show Saturday Night Live became aware of Gottfried and, in 1980, hired him as a cast member.

Gottfried’s many credits include “Beverly Hills Cop II.” Other film credits include “Look Who’s Talking II” and “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane.” He was also the host of the very popular late night movie series USA Up All Night. Gottfried is well known as the voice of Lago in Disney’s “Aladdin” and DIGIT in “Cyberchase.” He is a regular on the new Hollywood Squares, The Tonight Show and The Howard Stern Show. Gottfried recently appeared in the documentary “The Aristocrats,” prompting Entertainment Weekly to say, “out of the 101 comedians who appear on screen, no one is funnier — or more disgusting — than Gilbert Gottfried.” Gottfried Dirty Jokes was recently released on both DVD and CD, featuring 50 non-stop minutes of Gottfried telling the funniest and filthiest jokes ever. At the end of the show, Gottfried tells what is known among comedians as the “Dirtiest Joke of All Time,” which is also the basis for “The Aristocrats.” Tickets can be purchased at www.SARCASMcomedy.com or by calling 382–6253.
