School district websites are a wealth of information

By ROBERT LINNEHAN

About 20 years ago this article never would have existed, but today it’s a necessity. School is just around the corner and students and parents alike will be flocking to the different school district website to see their class lists, download permission forms, physical forms, and even track their grades.

The Evesham K-8 website (www. evesham.k12.nj.us) and the Cherokee High School District website (www.lrhsd.org) have become two popular destinations for up to the minute information from the district. Both update their websites regularly to keep parents and other visitors informed about what’s going on in Marlton elementary, middle and high schools.

Parents of elementary and middle school students can download all important documents from the website, as they are uploaded into the sites by the school districts. Parents are peruse weekly lunch menus, the school district’s yearly calendar, and can pay for their children’s lunches as well.

The lunch service program — called MealPay Plus — allows parents to track spending and monitor lunch choices.

Going deeper, parents of middle school student can access the E-School Parent Portal, a log in site that allows parents to track their student’s educational careers. Parents can see upcoming homework assignment, projects, and even their children’s grades using the program. They can also communicate with their children’s teachers if a question arises or if they need to schedule an appointment or conference.

The website also has a separate section for Board of Education information. BOE documents such as agendas, minutes, and meeting schedules can be downloaded. Breaking news such as program and curriculum changes are also posted on this section as well.

Additionally, each school website has more specific information, including recommended school supplies and summer reading lists. You can get to your child’s school’s site through the School Websites/Maps/Directions link on the district home page

Parents of high school students can also visit the regional website for the Lenape Regional High School District, where they can choose to visit Cherokee High School’s unique website.

Through LRHSD’s parents page, visitors can access newsletters for each of the district’s schools. The Cherokee Pride newsletter is available for download and features information and photos pertaining to school happenings.

Up and down the sides of the main page are informational updates pertaining to changes in the district, cancelations, and student awards.

There’s also a link for students to apply for a parking pass at Cherokee High School. The parking pass, which costs $50, is open to seniors with a valid driver’s license. After seniors get their passes, juniors will be able to register for a pass on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking pass page includes rules and registration requirements.

Parents can also pay for the $200 student activity fee online as well.

Links on LRHSD’s Web site including information about the district’s long-range plan, curriculum, information about the Performing Arts Center, Lenape District Television’s Web site and links to each of the district’s four high schools.

A complete staff directory allows visitors to get in touch with any LRHSD district administrator, teacher or employee through e-mail or telephone.

Parents of LRHSD students will find a “Parents” page that supplies information about programs, procedures and policies. Through this link, parents can access newsletters for each of the schools.
