See a ‘Ride the Ducks’ vehicle at Friendly’s Restaurant in Voorhees

With his love of history and adventure, Marlton’s Captain Mike Giordano has a tailor-made job, as a tour guide for Ride the Ducks. Giordano brings landmarks to life with attention-grabbing facts, as he drives guests through the historic streets of old city Philadelphia.

Giordano will drive his Duck beyond the typical tour route, when he brings his amphibious Duck across the Delaware River to greet his South Jersey neighbors at a personal appearance at the Friendly’s Restaurant at the Ritz Center in Voorhees, NJ at 890 Haddonfield Berlin Road, on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to climb aboard the duck vehicle with history buff Captain Mike, and hear what it’s like to be a captain of one of the most iconic tours in Philadelphia. In addition, the Ride the Ducks mascot “Splash” will pose for photos and help Captain Mike distribute free Wacky Quackers®, plus discount coupons for rides and other themed gifts for the “lucky-ducks” who join the fun.

2011 marks Giordano’s sixth summer on the Ride the Ducks team. He loves that the Ducks board right across from the Liberty Bell, where he can immediately share his excitement about American history with his guests.

“Visitors to Philadelphia have a purpose. People from Wyoming and Montana are here because they’ve come to see the birthplace of our nation,” explains Giordano. “They want to hear about American history. So, I love to share facts about how the bell came to Philadelphia. I explain the Georgian architecture of Independence Hall. I can’t drive quickly past that first block of the tour, because I believe that’s the main reason so many people have come to Philadelphia and why they’re choosing our tour through the old city.”

Mike Giordano will have a chance to greet his South Jersey neighbors, when he drives his amphibious vehicle to the Friendly’s Restaurant in Voorhees on the evening of August 10. This Marlton resident will invite folks to board and explore his interesting vehicle and hear about his tours through America’s birthplace, just a few miles across the river. “It’s a blast to work on Ride the Ducks,” declares Captain Mike. “I can’t believe you get paid to do this!”

The Ride the Duck tours in Philadelphia run seven days a week and are open through November, rain or shine, running frequently during daylight hours. Tickets can be purchased at the ticketing kiosk at 6th and Chestnut streets across from the Liberty Bell. Adult admissions are $27; children ages 3–12 admissions are $17; students ages 13–17 are $23; seniors 62+ are $25 and children under 3 are free.
