The MoorArts production of Hairspray features an extra-large cast befitting the story of a plus-sized teen out to vanquish stereotypes and prejudice. Director Jeanne Haynes struck gold in auditions, double casting three leading roles. Anne Kessler and Emily Duncan alternate as the show’s heroine Tracy, Erin Brogan and Samantha Maliha take turns playing Tracy’s best friend Penny, and Rachel Smith and Courtney Halpin share the role of Tracy’s nemisis, Amber.
The production has only three more shows left on July 13, 15, 16 at the Moorestown High School Auditorium. For tickets visit www.MoorArts.org or call 778–6600, ext. 28033. All proceeds benefit MoorArts student scholarships and teachers’ grants in the fine and performing arts.
