Cherry Hill Council will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 820 Mercer St.
Also, if you’ve been keeping tabs on the potential Merchantville merger, the borough’s council will also be meeting tonight as well, beginning at 6 p.m. with a caucus meeting.
Recently, Merchantville council passed a resolution to endorse a grassroots group to look into a potential municipal merge of Cherry Hill and Merchantville.
Borough clerk Denise Brouse said the five members of the group are Merchantville residents Kathy Birmingham, Rosemari Hicks, Richard James, Council member Anthony Perno and George Wilkinson.
Council President Patricia Fields said tonight’s meeting will allow further discussion on the potential merge. She said residents of both Merchantville and Cherry Hill are more than welcome to attend.

Last week, Cherry Hill Mayor Bernie Platt recently appointed five members to a commission to work with Merchantville’s commission on looking into a potential merge.
Members of the Cherry Hill commission are Platt, Roger Dennis, Tom Yarnall, board of education president Seth Klukoff and township business liaison Natalie Barney, said township spokesman Dan Keashen.
On Monday, July 18 residents are invited to attend two public meetings in Cherry Hill to meet the commission members and to focus specifically on the consolidation study process. Platt said to keep in mind that no work has been done on consolidation yet and no information has been generated on the financial and human impact of a study.
The first meeting, at 7 p.m., will focus on Cherry Hill specifically. A joint meeting with Merchantville will be held immediately following the first session. Both will be held in the Carman Tilelli Community Center, 820 Mercer St.
