As Evesham Fire-Rescue crews were preparing for the launch of the fireworks on the Fourth of July at the Cherokee High School Complex, they were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at Main Street and Evans Road. Crews arrived to find one person trapped and worked quickly to extricate them.
Just three days after placing the new hydraulic rescue equipment in service, the new tools were used to free the driver in about 10 minutes. Evesham EMS and Virtua ALS transported the occupant to Cooper Trauma for evaluation. Evesham Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Crews cleaned up from the extrication and returned to the fireworks standby where the fireworks were launched without incident. During the days celebration, Evesham Fire-Rescue crews provided EMS units for the run/walk standby, participated in the parade and then provided fire and EMS resources for the evenings family fun night and fireworks.
