Fine arts and crafts all weekend long

Yes it’s that time of year again in Haddonfield. From ancient Xie Yi style watercolor paintings to stained glass, soap making, and basket weaving, many of the juried artists at the 19th Annual Haddonfield Crafts and Fine Art Festival take pride in exquisite traditional craft technique. The nationally ranked festival will be held today from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sun., July 10, from noon to 5 p.m. The festival features more than 250 professional artists and crafters this year.

The two-day outdoor festival is one of the area’s premier events, garnering national attention and attracting crowds of more than 100,000 people. Artisans will exhibit a wide range of arts and crafts, including ceramics, glass, jewelry, wood, fiber, metal, paper, drawings, paintings, photography, and wearable art.

Several new vendors will be in attendance this year. The Metropolis Soap Company will be selling their handmade soaps to visitors at the festival. According to festival representatives, Metropolis balances traditional methods with green and luxurious products, which is why all of their products are vegan and their ingredients are natural.

Among the new vendors will also be Abra Couture Jewelry, which uses ancient Greek and Egyptian wire work techniques . Artist Abra Gorby’s jewelry also incorporates French and German resin casting and plating technique, which has been used for more than a century, representatives said.

As always the event is free to the public and easily accessible from the PATCO station.
