Now that we’re down to three options on the redevelopment of the Bancroft property — unless a dark horse option or white knight appears — I have a thought. If the borough buys the property (buys low) and at a later time needs to sell the property (sells high) because the borough either cannot maintain the property, goes bankrupt or the taxpayers revolt, at least the borough has that choice.
If the other two speculative options are chosen, age restricted townhouses or senior living retirement facility, once the property is sold, there’s no control over that property. It’s gone. Irreversible. Truly, it’s a beautiful natural setting that can’t be duplicated elsewhere in the Borough or most other places.
I’d like to have some response to my thought.
