A group of baby ducklings fell down into the sewers on the corner of Larkspur and Queen Anne roads on Tuesday afternoon.
It was big news for all the kids coming home from school and stopping to “ooh and ahhh” to try to figure out how to help the baby ducklings. In the meantime, poor mama duck was quacking around the street crying about her babies.
After the Cherry Hill police arrived, the sewer department came. Then, everyone waited for the sewer department supervisor.
The Cherry Hill Police then called the Cherry Hill Fire Department, who arrived immediately. And, the men from Ladder 4 quickly worked to open the sewer and bring the ducklings out to the mama, one by one.
The crowd of neighborhood kids, ranging in age from three to 11 years old, applauded both the police and fire department for helping.
Mama duck and her four babies are now waddling down Queen Anne Rd. looking for a good puddle.
