Castorino brings home the gold

Jackie Castorino, a 2008 graduate of Haddonfield Memorial High School, helped St. Joseph’s University’s Women’s JV Heavyweight Eight capture the Coleman D. Boylan Trophy and brought home gold medals from the 73rd annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday, May 14, in Philadelphia with a time of 06:49.19.

Bucknell followed with a time of 6:52.42 and Buffalo came in third with a time of 06:55.43. Finishing out the race were the University of Delaware with a time of 07:02.29; Drexel University at 07:10.16 and Purdue with a time of 07:17.69. This is the first time in SJU history that the JV boat won at Dad Vail.

Castorino will be a senior next fall at St. Joseph’s University and is a Chemistry Major. This summer she will participate in the SJU Summer Scholars program doing chemistry research on campus.

The Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States with over 100 colleges in the United States and Canada participating and over 3,000 athletes. This year, local ABC affiliates broadcast the finals live as well as ESPN3 and livestream from the Aberdeen Dad Vail site.
