Morgan Boyle and Brian Haughwout, seniors at Rutgers-Camden College of Arts and Sciences, have been elected to membership in the Rutgers University chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest college academic honor society in America.
Founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary, Phi Beta Kappa honors students who have done distinguished work in a liberal arts curriculum throughout their undergraduate years. Seniors elected to Phi Beta Kappa must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5; juniors must have a 3.8 or better.
“Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most distinguished undergraduate honor society in the nation, and the election of these individuals into the Rutgers chapter speaks volumes about the high quality of Rutgers-Camden students and the exceptional instruction that they receive,” Margaret Marsh, executive dean of the Rutgers–Camden Faculty of Arts and Sciences said.
Boyle is majoring in biology, and Haughwout in history.
