The Evesham K-8 BOE revealed last week that it can still possibly cut funding and save on several sources for the next school budget. District Business Administrator Dennis Nettleton said that two RFP’s have been advertised for the outsourcing of the payroll service employees and possibly the grounds crew and cafeteria workers.
The RFP’s were advertised last week and will likely come back to the district by the middle of next week, Nettleton said. The proposals will be analyzed when they come in and the board will be able to make a decision on them before the March 24 public hearing on the 2011–12 budget.
If these groups of employees can be outsourced at a lower cost for the district and the service levels stay the same, it may be appropriate to approve the measure, he said.
It could mean additional funding will be given back to the taxpayers of Evesham Township, as the current proposed budget has a flat tax levy.
The BOE passed the preliminary $65.9 million budget unanimously, which features a reduction in the overall tax levy in the school district. This year the district raised about $51.1 million in school taxes, which Business Administrator Dennis Nettleton said would be reduced slightly for 2011–2012.
The budget will be heard at a public hearing on March 24. If residents in the April 27 school district elections vote down the budget, it will be moved to the Evesham Township Council for analysis. The tax levy could possibly be reduced by the council during this process.
