Voorhees is set for a readjustment of the reassessment of 2005, and a request for proposal has been issued.
Township Administrator Lawrence Spellman said the original reassessment was done at the height of the housing market in 2005, and this readjustment would adjust to the true values of 2011.
The RFP period closes on Feb. 25.
In other township news:
The committee approved an ordinance to add a representative from the Voorhees Business Association Board of Directors to the Economic Development Commission.
No word yet on which member will take up the post.
On first reading the committee approved a change to the township Master Plan, allowing for more than a 14-day stay at proposed hotels on Route 73.
“The committee felt that, with the hotels feeding off of the new Virtua hospital,” Spellman said, “that 14 days may not be enough for families of patients.”
The change, which now goes back to the Planning Board for further approval, would allow for up to a 30-day stay at the hotels.
The committee also approved on first reading the acquisition of a storm water basin on Rural Avenue. The storm water basin was a component of a development completed in the mid-90s, Spellman said. The township currently maintains the basin, and Spellman said the township is taking what it should have 15 years ago.
The committee meets again Feb. 28.
