Baker principal to switch positions

Moorestown Township Public Schools Superintendent John Bach has announced that the Board of Education has accepted his recommendation to appoint David Tate, principal of Baker School, to the position of director of special education. Tate will succeed Dr. William Murphy, who is leaving on June 30 after two years of service to the district.

According to Bach, the appointment of Tate follows “long and difficult” deliberation with respect to replacing Murphy. The director of special education is responsible for the educational well-being of 500 students, who are classified, as well as the day-to-day management of 74 teachers and child study team members.

Bach assures the Baker School community that it will have a voice in the selection of Tate’s successor. The process will begin at the end of this month and details will be forthcoming as they are finalized, he said.
