Greg Dobbs joins Bancroft board

Bancroft (www.bancroft.org), a human service provider of education, residential, vocational and rehabilitation services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries and other neurological challenges, welcomed Philadelphia Phillies’ player Greg Dobbs to its board recently.

Dobbs, who has played with the Phillies since 2007, joins Bancroft as a member of the board of trustees after building a relationship with the people and the organization through numerous events over the past three years. Dobbs was charmed by the students during annual skills-n-drills activities at the Haddonfield school. In addition, his supportive role as dinner chair for the 2009 Butterfly Ball helped to make the fund raiser a great success.

“We are delighted to welcome such an active advocate for those we serve and the community to our board,” says Toni Pergolin, president of Bancroft. “In interacting with our students, Greg clearly focuses on the things that we have in common, not the things that make us different, which is the essence of our vision: One World. For Everyone.”

Dobbs has experience teaching and motivating students and children around the country about the benefits of good values in the community. He participated in the Seattle Mariners’ Winter Caravan Tour, which toured elementary schools throughout the state of Washington to speak with students about the importance of staying in school, being motivated to excel and remaining drug free. In 2009, Dobbs served as a call-in guest in support of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia during its annual telethon. Additionally, since 2004, he and his wife Heidi have been avid supporters of The Moyer Foundation, which funds programs that directly serve the critical needs of children in severe distress.

“I am excited to join the efforts of such a great organization,” Dobbs said. “I look forward to being part of a team that already has made such a positive impact to so many lives.”
